{"id":5188,"date":"2017-05-02T08:55:18","date_gmt":"2017-05-02T06:55:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/akki.ut.ee\/textile-analysis-using-atr-ft-ir-at-technart-2017\/"},"modified":"2017-05-02T08:55:18","modified_gmt":"2017-05-02T06:55:18","slug":"textile-analysis-using-atr-ft-ir-at-technart-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/akki.ut.ee\/en\/textile-analysis-using-atr-ft-ir-at-technart-2017\/","title":{"rendered":"Textile analysis using ATR-FT-IR at Technart 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On May 02, 2017, the first day of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ehu.eus\/en\/web\/technart2017\">Technart 2017 conference<\/a> (Bilbao, Spain) doctoral student <strong>Pilleriin Peets<\/strong> from UT Analytical Chemistry group made a presentation <a href=\"http:\/\/each.ut.ee\/EACH\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Technart2017_Peets_ettekanne_01.05.17.pdf\">Identification and classification of textile fibres using ATR\u2010FT\u2010IR spectroscopy with chemometric methods<\/a> (Photo on the left).<\/p>\n<p>The presentation outlines the recent results by Pilleriin in creating the method for quick, easy and non-destructive classification and semi-quantitative analysis of textiles using ATR-FT-IR spectroscopy combined with chemometric data analysis methods.<\/p>\n<p>She investigated altogether 89 individual textile materials \u2013 Wool, Silk, Cotton, Linen, Cellulose acetate, Lyocell\/Tenzel, Viscose, Polyester fibre, Polyamide fibre, Polyacrylic fibre, Elastane and their different combinations \u2013 and created a discrimination\/classification model using principal component analysis (Image on the right).<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_11870\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/each.ut.ee\/EACH\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Classification_of_textiles_by_ATR-FT-IR.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11870\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-11870\" src=\"http:\/\/each.ut.ee\/EACH\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Classification_of_textiles_by_ATR-FT-IR-300x269.jpg\" alt=\"Classification of textiles by ATR-FT-IR and principal component analysis, PCA (single-fibre model)\" width=\"300\" height=\"269\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-11870\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Classification of textiles by ATR-FT-IR and principal component analysis, PCA (single-fibre model)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>As a side-product of this work, a collection of ATR-FT-IR spectra of textile materials containing one or two different fibres was composed and is deposited in the Supplementary data of the paper that she recently published: <a href=\"http:\/\/dx.doi.org\/10.1016\/j.saa.2016.09.007\">P.
